Lead has been known since ancient time. Its name derives from the Greek word "protos" which means "first". Its symbol name derives from the Latin word "plumbum" which mean "lead". Lead’s melting point is at 327.5 °C (600.65 K, 621.5 °F) and its boiling point is at 1740.0 °C (2013.15 K, 3164.0 °F).
